Supporting Advocates in Leadership (SAL)
Supporting Advocates in Leadership (SAL), formerly Supportive Apartment Living, has been in operation for 30+ years in Nanaimo, BC. In 2023, Richard Chisholm became the CEO and Administrator of SAL which continues to support adults with diversabilities. SAL is funded by Community Living BC (CLBC). Referrals to SAL are made through CLBC Nanaimo.
Meet Team SAL
Richard, Gwen, and Cheyanne are passionate about supporting people with diversabilities. We help people learn to use their voice and speak up for themselves, set healthy boundaries, access disability services, and live independent and empowered lives.
Together, we work as a team to find out what people truly want and help them achieve their goals and dreams. Whether it’s finding supportive housing, disability services, inclusive education, employment, participating in community activities, forming meaningful friendships, or inspiring others, Team SAL bridges people to the services they need. We strive to help participants to not just live independently but to thrive and become active members of society.
